Palo Verte Trees are our favorite. The Green variety has high qualities of chlorophyll in them that makes for the intense green color. The blue varieties are found by water mostly and are a bluish green. Palo Verte is Spanish for green stick. They are the state tree of Arizona and live between 100-400 years. It is the primary nursing plant for baby Saguaros Cactus.
Superstition Mountain in Apache Junction on Lost Dutchman Rd.

This one is for you Beau!
We went north on Power Rd, out of Mesa, to look for the wild horses. We found a few but didn't go any further because we had sandals on. We didn't think it was a good idea to hike to them wearing improper foot wear in snake country. Especially after meeting the gentleman who was a desert guide in the area and we saw his snake boots he had on. He looked at our shoes, with a bit of fear! His advise was no, you do not walk here with those on!
It was a super hot 94 degrees today. I'm not sure if this air conditioned bathroom, was over kill, to beat the heat.

Wild horses drinking by the Salt River.
Randy, my lens was working quite well. After giving the matter of my lens some thought, I remembered it was my Cameron lens that did not fit on Mark IV. The view finder has a lot to be desired. Didn't get great pictures of horses but they were not posing. Below is an ox bow in the Salt River.
Desert flowers everywhere in the past month.
...We made a quick stop at Catalina State Park...so pretty...
Our adventure trip this year did not include many animals. Last but not least we see a ground squirrel and a snake...
Meet Dee Dee...Ms.Chef Boy-R-D-herself. She has a cooking blog under this name. After spending a short amount of time with her I can only guess her close friends would describe her as the Energizer Bunny on steroids. Many good and enjoyable conversations were had with this generous, kind and funny lady. It was a true joy to have meet you, Gayle and Sue this week. |
Another beautiful day, ending with a sun set to remember.
The mountain turns pink again.
This morning the air was filled with dust and heat. The heat was so intense that the sun's reflection off the trailer melted a 12" long hole in our plastic RV mat; be advised.
On our golf cart ride around the park we meet this not so little guy. I think I found a good reason to save up for some of these veery nice boots at the flea market in Mesa.
