While we were in Fort Clark we meet a charming couple; who are Frankie and Joe from Fort Davis, TX.  They invited us to their beautiful ranch in Fort Davis for as long as we wanted to stay.  The following pictures are all taken on the ranch. Frankie's sister Jennifer was staying the winter with them too.

In the past couple of years three area ranchers started to trap the mountain lions because they were killing too many of their cattle. They trapped 18 of them the trap is pictured on the right. Prong horn picture below.

Their drive was 3 miles long and lets just say a little bumpy. The gate was tight :)...and those dead thorny bushes do scratch the sides of trailers! Beware!!!

We ended our stay here going to Marfa,TX for dinner at the El Paisano Hotel.  On the way there we saw three Aoudads walking in the grasses next to the drive way. The movie stars from the movie Giant stayed here years ago and there were many pictures on the walls of their stay.

This restaurant is very good; when in Marfa eat here!

Fort Clark Springs ... Bracketville, Texas

We arrived at our first destination December 31at Camping World, in Fort Clark Springs.  We will be here until January 31. We love the fort because of it's history and the simple life here.  Our trailer we are pulling this year holds our golf cart, bikes and extra supplies that we need for being gone a longer period of time this season.

Fort Clark was established on the banks of Las Moras Creek by the U.S. Army in 1852.  The Fort played a major role in protecting a segment of the "lower road" from San Antonio to El Paso, and frontier settlers, from Indians and bandits.  Visually all Cavalry units and many Infantry lived, trained, or visited at the Fort Clark while patrolling West Texas and the U.S. border.  World War II Generals George Patton and General Johnathan Wainwright were among the notables who served at Fort Clark.  The Fort was closed in 1946, and has since become a haven for those who seek peaceful recreation, resort, and residential surroundings.  Fort Clark has 1600 acres of wilderness and is a natural bird sanctuary.  The large 100' X 300' pool is maintained by nature all year long and stays at a consistent temperature of 68 degrees.  For more information visit www.fortclark.com.  (the previous pharagraph was taken from their printed flyer)

Notice the baby Axis deer.

A few of us put out corn and now the gang is all here.

This is part of the old laundry at the fort and is 25,000 square feet.  They did laundry for several cavelry forts in the area. Water was plentiful here because of the natural spring that never dries up...well almost never.

This cat belonged to a camper.  When they moved to a house on the fort the cat said no and stayed at the camp ground.  No matter how many times it was brought home it came back to Camping World.  She is a very happy camper.

Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas

John Hagee's Ministries have been around for years and I always wished I could go there.  Well we did and enjoyed our day to the fullest.  What a wonderful ministry they have there.

The ancient paintings are fading and barely visible in some places.  The park has done extensive research to preserve the memory of the paintings by way of artist drawings. Today was one of the coldest days we have seen here.  43 degrees.

Magnolia Market Waco, Texas

Picture
We left Michigan December 28th for Bracketteville Texas. Magnolia Market in Waco Texas  was a welcome stop.  We arrived one hour before they closed so it was a power shopping experience.  I always love this place and it was filled with improvements since last year.  The 75% off Christmas clearance, was a busy section to say the least.  Picked up a few pieces but their spring flowers were not in yet.

There was no time to visit the new Bakery to buy a goodie and sit out here.  The outdoor family areas are very special.

    About  Us

After my husbands widow maker heart attack in 2004, the doctor said just relax and enjoy life for a while. So it happened: the 43' NewMar Mountain Aire coach was purchased and the house sold....eventually. Relaxing? Not always! We are truly blessed to spend this time together... and with friends.

    Up Date:

September 2015 now traveling with Ford F350diesel dually and Host Mammoth Truck Camper.
