Meet up with Gay and Randy at their home in Yuma. Visiting in Yuma also, were Mary and Bernie from Washington state who we traveled in Mexico with too.
Gay is making us the nectar of the gods from tangelos. It is the best ever!!!!!! This is where all of our winter veggies come from. There are many veggie fields in Yuma. Cauliflower, lettuce of all kinds, cilantro, brussel sprouts etc.. Many farms have date trees like the ones below. | Gracie's favorite spot was the fenced in back yard to race around. Farm fields are groomed to perfection and flooded when it is time for water. |
On the way north to Quartzsite we saw the eye in the sky on the ground. (National Security) Gay and Randy will be in Quartzsite in about a week and we will meet up with them. Jim and Diane who we meet in Yuma will rendezvous there also.
The Quartzsite RV show started this week. Let the crazy begin!
Population of Quartzsite is around 3.500 people and during the months of January and February it rises to 500,000 all living in RV's. Also many interesting vehicles and people. So much so that it must be seen to be believed. Someone's art work on the bottom left. In the middle of nowhere. (in the desert) The white highlighted areas are white quartz. Old ruins we came across in the desert. | On the left: Silly Diane needs to open the chair first before she sits in it! Below: The Trek motor home gathering that Gay and Randy were attending was starting to fill up next to us. Gay sent us on with mass quantities of fruit to juice. Nummy nummy nummy... It was a good show We had a big windy rain storm. Quite nasty! A camp fire and the blood moon eclipse. The shadows did not get picked up on the camera...strange. |
Below: These guys made our pizza tonight...never could understand how anyone could handle having their hair all knotted up in dress ...yuk!
Taking it easy in the desert can be quite nice. Occasionally a few repairs are needed.
The city of Quartzsite as we rode through the desert on our golf cart.
As we were trying to find a new way out of the desert ride we ran across this junk yard filled with very cool rv's, cars, trucks, airplanes, and helicopters.
